Meadow Green Vase with Organic Curves – Traditional Kintsugi Restoration
Standing 34 cm tall, this meadow green glazed vase is characterized by its generous, feminine curves. Its fluid silhouette and wide handles evoke the softness of natural forms. This piece has undergone a high-level artistic restoration following the strict protocols of traditional Kintsugi.
Pictorial Narrative and Precious Metals
The intervention transforms a major structural break into a significant artistic composition, blending Urushi lacquer with noble metals:
-
24-Karat Pure Gold: The original fracture lines are magnified with fine gold, highlighting the volume’s movement through a precious network of light.
-
Gold Leaf Infill: An exceptionally large loss (lacuna) has been filled with a complex application of lacquer and gold leaf, creating a radiant golden surface that contrasts with the deep green glaze.
-
Black Lacquer Iconography: Upon this golden ground, a black lacquer composition depicts cranes in flight amidst clouds. This classical motif, a symbol of longevity, dialogues with the vase’s organic form to offer a work that is both sculptural and poetic.
