A large Japanese serving bowl of the kashibachi type, traditionally used for presenting cakes, fruit or confectionery. Its low, generously open form rests on a ring foot, while the subtly undulating rim, enhanced by fine incised details, gives the piece an elegant silhouette.
The bowl is covered in a pale green, celadon-like glaze enlivened by a delicate network of crackling. The interior features a floral underglaze decoration of pink blossoms and dark foliage, accompanied by a freely drawn calligraphic motif.
Its large, continuous fracture has been restored using the traditional Japanese art of kintsugi, with natural urushi lacquer and pure 24-carat gold powder. The golden line travels through the decoration, creating a new visual axis and transforming the break into an integral part of the composition.
A unique, generous and luminous piece, suitable as a serving bowl, fruit bowl or decorative object.
