A Japanese stoneware chawan in the wan-nari form, with a broad, rounded profile and a gently continuous curve from foot to rim.
Its glaze combines deep blue-green tones with lighter turquoise transitions over the natural warmth of the stoneware body. The variations in the glaze are the result of firing and give the bowl a rich, layered surface without overwhelming the simplicity of the form.
The bowl has been restored according to the traditional kintsugi method using natural urushi lacquer. The fractures were rebuilt and refined through successive applications of lacquer, with curing time between each stage, before the final finish in 24-carat gold.
The gold follows the exact path of the original breaks. Fine lines alternate with more substantial restored areas, especially near the rim, where several fractures meet. Because the break pattern is unique to this bowl, the resulting kintsugi cannot be reproduced.
