An antique Japanese glazed ceramic bowl in the wan-nari form, characterised by a softly rounded body, gently flaring sides and a small ring foot.
Its luminous celadon-green glaze is subtly nuanced and enhanced by a blue-toned rim. The exterior is decorated with three moulded underglaze medallions depicting a cedar tree, a cherry tree and bamboo. Associated with strength, renewal and resilience, these three botanical motifs form a discreet decoration that gradually emerges in the light.
Its numerous fractures have been restored using the traditional Japanese art of kintsugi, with natural urushi lacquer and pure 24-carat gold powder. The golden lines cross the medallions and unfold across the bowl like a network of branches, naturally extending the original botanical design.
A unique piece in which the softness of celadon meets the radiance of gold.
