This ceramic bowl features an ivory crackle glaze decorated with red and green maple leaves, dark branches and delicate floral motifs. Its rounded wan-nari silhouette rests on a small ring foot, while a fine dark rim outlines its opening.

The maple leaves evoke momiji, the autumn foliage celebrated in Japanese culture for its fleeting beauty. Their changing colours suggest the passage of time and the natural rhythm of the seasons. Together with the small floral motifs, the decoration recalls unkin, a traditional composition bringing spring blossoms and autumn leaves together on a single surface.

The bowl has been restored using traditional kintsugi, with natural urushi lacquer and pure 24k gold. Concentrated on one side, the gold traces a branching network across the ceramic, echoing the painted branches. Rather than concealing the fractures, the restoration makes them part of the bowl’s character: a quiet expression of transformation, continuity and renewal.
