Small Midnight Blue Terracotta Bowl — Traditional Kintsugi with 24k Gold

This small terracotta bowl is finished with a glossy midnight-blue glaze, deepening to almost black along the rim. Its rounded silhouette reveals subtle variations of colour and fine concentric lines beneath the glaze. On the underside, the exposed terracotta brings a warm, earthy contrast to the depth of the blue.

Restored by Myriam Greff using traditional kintsugi, with natural urushi lacquer and pure 24k gold, the bowl reveals a network of golden lines extending across its interior, outer walls and base. Delicate seams meet broader areas of gold along the rim, creating a composition that changes as the piece is turned.

Against the midnight blue, the gold evokes a nocturnal landscape crossed by light. This encounter between darkness and radiance invites a reflection on resilience and renewal: the fractures remain visible, yet become part of a new harmony. Its small scale invites a close, attentive gaze, revealing details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
