Motion within stillness is a one-of-a-kind red and purple geode vase standing 27.6 inches high, conceived as a passage between surface and depth.

The intense red ceramic gradually darkens near the shoulder, while a large vertical opening reveals an inner landscape of deep purple glass. Passing through the body of the vessel, the geode allows both light and the viewer’s gaze to move through the sculpture.

Here, emptiness is not treated as a loss. It becomes a space of revelation. As the viewpoint and lighting change, the irregular glass surface shifts between violet, ink-black and gold. What was once hidden becomes the most vivid part of the form.

The lines of fracture are revealed through traditional Japanese kintsugi, using natural urushi lacquer and pure 24-carat gold. Rather than concealing the break, the gold makes it visible and draws a new geography across the ceramic surface.

In Motion within stillness, stillness is only apparent. Light moves through the material, revealing its depths and awakening an inner motion at the heart of the seemingly fixed form.
