This bottle-shaped vase, adorned with a light blue glaze flowing over a raw clay, tells a unique story. Its birth was marked by an unusual event: a deformation during firing, creating a long break. This firing fracture, far from being a mere imperfection, is a true signature, a testimony to the unpredictable beauty of fire.
Rather than throw the broken vase away, the ceramist chose to give it a second life by entrusting it to me to use the ancestral Kintsugi technique to repair the break.
The result is stunning. Far from concealing the imperfections, the flashes of pure 24-carat gold highlight and magnify them. They become an integral part of the vase’s aesthetic, giving it a unique, precious aura.
From now on, the vase is no longer just a decorative object, but a true symbol of resilience and imperfect beauty. It’s ready to welcome flowers, adding a touch of life and color to its already rich history.
As you contemplate this vase, let yourself be carried away by its singular story. Admire the beauty of imperfections sublimated by the art of Kintsugi. Never forget that even the most unexpected trials can give rise to something even more beautiful and precious.
