Large Japanese bowl decorated with kanji associated with longevity, painted in blue on a warm, light-toned ceramic body. Its surface reveals a delicate network of fine crazing, where tea has gradually settled over time, bearing witness to the bowl’s former use and lived history.
Once broken, the bowl has been restored using the traditional art of kintsugi, with genuine 24k gold. The gold does not conceal the accident; it reveals the fracture, extends the memory of the piece, and enters into dialogue with the symbolism of longevity inscribed on the bowl.
A unique piece, deeply wabi-sabi, where time, use, and repair all remain visible.
