This 20 cm Japanese vase features an elongated form with subtly faceted surfaces, reminiscent of traditional hanaire vases used in Japanese flower arrangement.
Its delicately speckled celadon-green glaze flows naturally over an ivory-colored body, revealing subtle variations in texture and tone. The simplicity of its form allows the richness of the ceramic surface and the traces of the potter’s hand to come into focus.
Restored using the traditional kintsugi technique, with natural urushi lacquer and 24-karat gold, the vase is crossed by fine golden lines that meet, extend, and branch along its original fractures. The gold follows the contours of the ceramic, delicately highlighting the transition between the two glazes.
The restoration gives the piece a renewed presence without erasing its history. The fractures become an integral part of its composition, while the warmth of the gold contrasts with the softness of the mineral tones.
A unique collector’s piece in which the beauty of Japanese ceramics finds new expression through the art of kintsugi.
