An antique glazed ceramic bowl in the wan-nari form, characterised by a rounded body, gently flaring sides and a wide opening resting on a small ring foot.
Its pale green, celadon-like glaze is enlivened by delicate crackling and subtle firing variations. Beneath the glaze, a botanical decoration of large stylised leaves is softly modelled into the surface and revealed through the varying shades of green.
Its fractures have been restored using the traditional art of kintsugi, with natural Japanese urushi lacquer and pure 24-carat gold powder. The golden lines branch across the bowl and naturally extend the botanical decoration, like new veins running through the leaves.
A unique, understated and luminous piece in which gold meets the mineral softness of the glaze.
