Dark blue Kintsugi bottle vase

This bottle-shaped vase, glazed in deep midnight blue, tells a unique story. Its birth was marked by an unusual event: a deformation during firing, creating a long, opening-shaped break across its entire height. This firing fracture, far from being a mere imperfection, is a true signature, a testimony to the unpredictable beauty of fire.

Rather than throw the broken vase away, the ceramist chose to give it a second life by entrusting it to me to use the ancestral Kintsugi technique to repair the break.

The result is stunning. Far from concealing the imperfections, the flashes of pure 24-carat gold highlight and magnify them. They become an integral part of the vase’s aesthetic, giving it a unique, precious aura.
