An antique glazed ceramic bowl with a low, generously open form, close to the Japanese hira-nari shape. Its softly rounded sides rest on a small ring foot, giving the piece a restrained and balanced silhouette.
Its luminous glaze shifts between ivory, pale yellow and the softest hint of green depending on the light. Subtle speckling, firing variations and delicate crackling enrich the otherwise minimalist surface. A small geometric workshop mark is visible underneath the base.
Its fractures have been restored using the traditional Japanese art of kintsugi, with natural urushi lacquer and pure 24-carat gold powder. The golden lines travel across both the interior and exterior of the bowl, creating a delicate composition that highlights the softness of the glaze.
A unique, minimalist and luminous piece in which gold reveals the quiet beauty of the material.
