Hiragata Kintsugi Bowl: The Elegance of Summer
Discover a masterpiece of Japanese craftsmanship with this stoneware bowl, an authentic piece steeped in history and tradition. With its generous dimensions of 17.5 cm in diameter and only 5 cm in height, it adopts the “Hiragata” (平形) form, meaning “flat shape.” This wide, shallow silhouette is traditionally used for summer tea ceremonies, as it allows the matcha tea to cool quickly.
The bowl features a beautiful interplay of glaze colors:
- The interior is covered with a soft beige glaze, creating a welcoming surface that will highlight the tea.
 - The exterior is adorned with a soothing light green glaze, adding a touch of freshness and nature.

Underneath its foot, the potter’s history and identity are etched by a large engraved signature, testifying to the piece’s authenticity and handcrafted origin.
Once broken, this bowl has been magnificently resurrected by the ancient technique of kintsugi. Each fracture has been meticulously repaired and enhanced with pure 24-carat gold, transforming its imperfections into a network of luminous lines—a testament to its history and resilience.
More than a simple object, this bowl is a unique and perfectly functional work of art. It is ready to be reused to enrich your tasting moments, blending the beauty of tradition with the story of a rebirth.
