Here’s an amazing box I’ve hunted out for you.
It’s a Japanese gentleman! The hat is the lid! The box must have been used for tobacco or jewelry. The box is marked “Japon”. This dates it from the late 19th century.
It had a large crack and, above all, a large chip, which I restored using traditional Kintsugi with Japanese lacquer and 24-carat gold.
Myriam’s view: A beautiful 13 cm-high porcelain box for hiding your treasures!
