“Tsubuyaki” means murmur in Japanese, suggesting inner reflection.
My artwork explores the duality of strength and fragility, inherent in both humanity and nature.
A Kintsugi-repaired vase symbolizes this duality, inviting contemplation of our interdependence with the natural world.
The natural materials used evoke the diversity and fragility of our environment.
This piece is a metaphor for our ability to heal and coexist harmoniously with nature.
Using the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi, I’ve repaired a broken stoneware vase, adding a personal touch with intricatemarquetry.
Cracks are filled with japanese lacquer and pure gold powder. The large gaps are adorned with recycled materials
such as galuchat, mother-of-pearl, and beetle elytra, imitation tortoiseshell with lacquer work.transforming a broken object into a
one-of-a-kind treasure.
