This celadon porcelain vase combines a soft blue-green glaze with an elegant flared silhouette and a richly detailed traditional kintsugi restoration.
Once broken, the vase was carefully restored with natural urushi lacquer and 24K gold. Alongside the golden fractures, selected areas have been enhanced with an iridescent lacquer whose shifting shades move between deep teal, turquoise, blue and violet depending on the light.
These luminous accents evoke the changing colours of a beetle’s wing, introducing an unexpected contemporary element into the traditional language of kintsugi. Against the serene celadon glaze, the gold and iridescent lacquer create a subtle dialogue between colour, light and fracture.
The restoration becomes an integral part of the vase’s composition, transforming its history into a unique decorative object.
