A Unique Piece Restored Using the Kintsugi Technique
This magnificent 15 cm diameter bowl was entirely handcrafted. It is distinguished by its deep blue hare fur glaze, a testament to the unparalleled skill of its creator.
A Unique Piece Marked by History
While time has left its mark on this unique creation, it has given it an even more singular dimension. Indeed, it was broken. To preserve its authenticity and beauty, I restored it using the ancient technique of kintsugi. This Japanese method consists of filling the cracks with gold lacquer, thus sublimating the imperfections and transforming the scar into a work of art in its own right. Far from being a flaw, this meticulous restoration gives the break a unique soul and a captivating story. Each line of gold tells a chapter of its existence, emphasizing its resilience and timeless beauty. To make it even more extraordinary, I created a 24-karat gold maki-e depicting peonies and the karakusa pattern in place of a missing shard. These two ornaments symbolize longevity and prosperity.
A Functional and Decorative Piece
Despite its repaired break, this bowl retains all its functional qualities.
A Work of Art at the Crossroads of Craftsmanship and Tradition
By acquiring this unique bowl, you are acquiring a functional and decorative work of art. It embodies the excellence of French craftsmanship, enhanced by the ancient technique of kintsugi. This singular creation will bring a touch of elegance and originality to your interior, while telling a fascinating story.
