Phoebus — Églomisé Mirror in 24k and 18k Gold with a Bitumen of Judea Patina

In this variation of the Phoebus series, a hand-worked bitumen of Judea patina brings darker, irregular markings to the gold. This intentional ageing evokes the traces of time, creating contrasts between clear reflections and areas where the reflected image is softly veiled.

The reflective 24-karat gold background is crossed by a fracture pattern in 18-karat gold, which also reflects its surroundings. These two shades of gold interact with the patina, revealing different nuances as the light and viewing angle change.

Each piece is gilded by hand using the verre églomisé technique. Both the gold leaf and the bitumen of Judea patina are applied entirely to the reverse of tempered glass. The visible overlaps, delicate creases and variations in the gold leaf, together with the individual pattern of the patina, give each mirror its own character.

Care

The decoration is applied entirely to the reverse of the glass. The front can be cleaned like a conventional mirror, using a soft cloth.
